Reproductive performance of Pietrain sows and crossbred (Pietrain X Zlotnicka Spotted) F1 sows in Agro-Wronie herds

The liter size in primaparous Pietrain and F1 sows (Pietrain X Zlotnicka Spotted) amounted to 9.35 and 9.96 piglets respectively, while in multiparous ones - to 9.93 and 11.61. Some other rearing results, such as the litter size on the 21st day and at weaning, or piglet mortality, were very good, i.e. Pietrain sows vs. F1 sows: 9.38 and 10.91, 9.28 and 10.64 piglets, 4.18 percent and 6.0 percent respectively. The other data characterizing the production efficiency were: the days from weaning to effective mating - 35.55 and 35.63, days of farrowing intervals - 199.66 and 188.13, farrowing frequency - 1.83 and 1.95 respectively. The reproductive performance of crossbred F1 sows was at a considerably higher level than the reproductive performance of purebred Pietrain sows
