Use of the crop water stress index CWSI in the irrigation scheduling of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) [crop water stress index - Basilicata]

إنجليزي. We report the results of an experiment carried out on a sunflower (cv Romsum HS90) crop in Southern Italy (Ofanto River Plain, Lavello, PZ) in 1993. Our aims were to evaluate the Crop Water Stress Index (CWSI) as a measure of plant water status, to establish the limits of the application of this method for practical use and to determine the relationship between CWSI and crop yield. Four irrigation regimes applied to the crop were compared: a control irrigated only at sowing, supplementary irrigation when the soil water potential declined to - 1.5 MPa, and restoration of the water volumes equal to 50% and 100% of crop maximum evapotranspiration (ETc). Canopy temperature, air temperature and VPD were measured with an Everest Interscience Infrared Thermometer and used to calculate the CWSI. The CWSI, calculated by empirical and theoretical methods, proved to be well related to the actual crop water status and significantly linearly correlated to the decrease in crop yield as a result of water stress
اظهر المزيد [+] اقل [-]إيطالي. Si riportano i risultati di una ricerca condotta nel 1993 a Gaudiano di Lavello, PZ, su coltura di girasole (cv. Romsum US90) allo scopo di valutare l'indice CWSI nell'apprezzare lo stato idrico della coltura, stabilire quali potrebbero essere i limiti di applicabilita' del metodo ai fini di un utilizzo pratico e individuare le relazioni esistenti tra il CWSI e la resa della coltura. La coltura e' stata sottoposta a quattro regimi irrigui: un testimone non irrigato, una tesi irrigata con interventi di soccorso quando il potenziale idrico del suolo raggiungeva il valore di - 1,5 MPa, e due tesi a cui si restituiva il 50 e 100% dell'ETc. Ai fini del calcolo del CWSI sono stati misurati la temperatura superficiale della coltura, la temperatura dell'aria ed il VPD, mediante un termometro all'infrarosso Everest Interscience. Il CWSI, calcolato sia con il metodo empirico, sia con quello teorico, e' risultato indicativo dell'effettivo stato idrico della coltura e significativamente correlato in modo lineare ai decrementi di resa in seguito allo stress idrico
