إنجليزي. [The correct operation and possible utilisation of a prototype (BC40) of an automatic individual feed intake recording system for milk cows housed in free stalls were tested. The system records the individual intake, the number and length of visits of every cow. BC40, at tests, shows a high reliability for recording of amount and time of feed intake and, therefore, can be used for the description of feeding behaviour of cows housed in free stalls. The system can also be used for palatability trials because cows can freely visit any feeding gate]

Obiettivo della ricerca e' stato quello di verificare il corretto funzionamento e di saggiare le possibili applicazioni di un prototipo (BC40) per il rilievo dei consumi alimentari di bovine da latte in stabulazione libera. Il sistema, oltre a rilevare l'entita' del consumo, registra anche il numero e la durata delle visite effettuate da ciascun animale. Il BC40, ai test di validazione, relativamente ai consumi e alla registrazione dei tempi d'ingestione, evidenzia una elevata affidabilita', che ne permette l'utilizzazione nella descrizione del comportamento alimentare di bovine in stabulazione libera. La possibilita' di scelta della mangiatoia da parte delle vacche consente inoltre di impiegare la strumentazione per studi di preferenza alimentare
