Experiments on soil and water conservation were conducted at different sites under varying agro-ecological conditions. In landruk interventions such as the run on control through diversion (closed plots) and fodder grass planting on the terrace risers were compared with farmer's practice. Six plots consisting 3 major cropping systems were continued in previous experiment conducted during QMWC/HARP project at Bandipur to find out the differences in these major cropping systems for soil and soil fertility conservation. The barriers to control run-on showed the trend of reducing top soils losses from the bariland but the significant effect of the intervention was not observed on the nutrients losses through leaching and runoff in the form of solution. Mandarin orchard had less soil loss as compared to maize/millet cropping system in Bandipur site.
