2001
Stachy, J. | Bogdanowicz, E. (Poland)
After the second world war Poland has lost 181 thousands square km of its eastern territories which are into the Baltic Sea by the rivers Bug and Niemen and into the Black Sea by the rivers Dniestr, Prut and Prypec. The paper discusses the sculpture of the earth surface, the climate, the surface waters, the water resources and the extreme flow values as well as structure and the maximum freshets in the interwar period. Special attention has been given to the Polesie because of its unique character - it is the largest swampy area in Europe and it has been the subject of intensive hydrologic investigations
