The study presents the major analytical and synthetic indices used to analyse and evaluate the diversification of rural areas and farmholdings. It also explains selected aspects of the delimination of agricultural regions. The choice of indices to be used to delimit farming regions depends on the purpose and the extent of the analysis and on the availability of sources data. The multivariate analysis methods are applicable to research studies on region delimination
