[Vertical and spatial transmission of prices in the Spanish sheep sector] | Transmisión espacial y vertical de precios en el sector ovino español

Boshnjaku, L.
This work focuses on the spatial and vertical relationships of prices in Spain's sheep sector. From the methodological point of view, this thesis provides with new techniques for the identification and interpretation of price relationships both in the short and the long run. It is also one of the first studies to approach the analysis of asymmetric relationships in price transmission. With respect to price spatial relations, the existence of two different markets in Spain has been confirmed, Zafra and Ebro. Finally, with respect to price transmission along the marketing channel, it can be concluded that, in the long term, we cannot talk about winners and losers, as it is perfect. In the short term, the retail sector prevails over the wholesale sector, and this last one, over the producing sector. This is translated into temporary gains in the short run, that are more obvious for retailers, particularly, when prices undergo an upward trend
