Determining the durability of protective coatings in technical equipment used in animal production objects

Method of prognostic determination of protective coating durability in livestock equipment under real exploitation conditions was proposed on an example of animal feeding devices. Four types of hot-dip zinc coatings and 6 paint coatings were tested over 4 years at three livestock production units. Wear tests of the coatings were carried out under simulated conditions using synthetic solution of electro-chemical properties and chemical composition similar to natural feeds but stronger corrosive. Mathematical models considering relationships between wear of coatings under real and simulated conditions were developed. The models enable to determine forecasted durability of zinc and paint coatings on the basis of laboratory tests under simulated conditions
