In years 1992-97 on the area of the south western macroregion and the provinces of Gorzow Wlkp., Opole, Leszno and Czestochowa there were examined the outlays on plant protection on the meso- and macroscale. The outlays on plant protection on the mesoscale were expressed by the ration, which determines the number of ha of arable land per one spraying machine as well as the area of the arable per one outlet of means of plant protection. On the microscale the outlays were expressed by means of usage of chemically active substance per ha of cultivation, frequency and costs of treatments. The research showed that the greatest outlays on plant protection were spent on rape and sugar beet, while the most advantagenous effectiveness of these outlays occurred in the production of corn
