Production of bulbs of Polianthes tuberosa in cases with different substrates

إنجليزي. To lower production costs and to reduce phytopathological problems in soil where Polianthes tuberosa is grown, a trial for bulb production in cases with expressly prepared substrates has been carried out. On each substrate 12 bulbs were planted, equivalent to a density of 116 bulbs/square m. The distiller waste utilized as common substrate was mixed with perlite and soil in percentages of 30-50-70% in six theses with four repetitions. The results show that the thesis with 70% of distiller waste and 30% of perlite produced a greater amount of flower producing central bulbs. The total number of bulbils for plant also was higher in the thesis with distiller waste 70% and perlite 30%. Root development too was higher on distiller waste/perlite mixture in the three ratios. The trial showed a favourable effect of case cultivation on bulb growth, compared with traditional cultivation; a doubling of flower producing central bulb yield per square m was obtained

[Per abbassare i costi di produzione e ridurre i problemi fitopatologici nel terreno in cui viene coltivata Polianthes tuberosa, e' stata condotta una prova per la produzione di bulbi in cassette con substrati opportunamente preparati. Su ogni substrato sono stati piantati 12 bulbi, equivalenti a una densita' di 116 bulbi/m quadrato. La vinaccia esausta utilizzata come substrato comune a tutte le tesi veniva miscelata con perlite e terreno in percentuali del 30-50-70%, per un totale di sei tesi con quattro ripetizioni. I risultati dimostrano che la tesi con il 70% di vinaccia esausta e il 30% di perlite produceva una quantita' maggiore di bulbi centrali forza fiore. Pure il numero totale di bulbilli per pianta era piu' elevato nella tesi con vinaccia esausta al 70% e perlite al 30%. Anche lo sviluppo delle radici era maggiore sulla miscela vinaccia/perlite nei tre rapporti. La prova ha evidenziato un effetto favorevole della coltivazione in cassetta sulla crescita dei bulbi, rispetto alla coltivazione tradizionale; si otteneva un raddoppio della produzione di bulbi centrali forza fiore per m quadrato]
