Study of the influence of some test conditions on the vibration transmitted to the drivers of motor mowers

On the basis of different experiences in the field of homologation and research, it has been possible to recognize a remarkable difference in the results of the vibration level measurements obtained by different laboratory tests (or even by different operators) on the same machine. Consequently, improvements in testing protocols were investigated, for the motor mowers, looking for advantages in term of a better reproducibility of the measurements. Purpose of the present paper is primarily to evaluate the influence of some testing parameters on the vibration level transmitted to the hand-arm system of the motor mower driver. Some observations and proposals are then issued to the project of standard Pr EN 12733. The vibration levels measured were relatively high, if compared with exposure danger times of the current standards, so it is to be noticed unfortunately how the study of a simple industrial solution capable to increase the mechanical impedance of the handle-bar and the steering looks to remain an open problem, even on the most recent machines. Considering the results in the complex, it is clear that the operator is the main factor able to influence the result of the test. This effect depends substantially on his antropometric characteristics and on his experience in driving the motor mower. While the machine travelling, as well as the presence of the elastic carpet, did not influence significantly the measurements

[In base a esperienze diverse nel settore dell'omologazione e della ricerca, e' stato possibile verificare l'esistenza di una differenza rimarchevole nei risultati delle misure del livello di vibrazione ottenuti mediante test di laboratorio diversi (o condotti da operatori diversi) sulla medesima macchina. Di conseguenza, sono stati studiati miglioramenti nei protocolli di prova, per le motofalciatrici, alla ricerca di vantaggi in termini di migliore riproducibilita' delle misurazioni. Lo scopo di questo lavoro consiste in primo luogo nel valutare l'influenza di alcuni parametri di prova sui livelli di vibrazioni trasmessi al sistema mano-braccio del conducente di motofalciatrici. Alcune osservazioni e proposte sono poi indirizzate al progetto di norma Pr EN 12733. I livelli delle vibrazioni misurati erano relativamente elevati, in confronto con i tempi di pericolo di esposizione degli standard correnti, cosi' si deve notare che lo studio di una semplice soluzione industriale in grado di aumentare l'impedenza meccanica degli organi di guida sembra rimanere un problema aperto, anche sulle macchine piu' recenti. Considerando i risultati nel complesso, e' chiaro che l'operatore e' il fattore principale in grado di influenzare il risultato del test. Questo effetto dipende sostanzialmente dalle sue caratteristiche antropometriche e dalla sua esperienza nella guida della motofalciatrice.
