The relation between the number of fruits set and the number of leaves on sweet pepper plants pruned to one main shoot was investigated. The yield and quality of fruits were examined. The highest early and total yields were obtained by leaving one fruit (on the main stem) and two leaves (one on the main stem and the other on the branch). This method of pruning provided fruits of high commercial quality, although individual fruit weight was obtained by removing every second fruit set on each fruiting level
