Vegetable crop characterization in Campania in the last fifty years

إنجليزي. From 1970 onward, field vegetable crops had in Campania a progressive reduction of surfaces and productions. At present, Salerno and Caserta provinces give the highest contribution in terms of areas (respectively, 35.9 and 34%); Naples district (17.4%), Irpinia and Sannio (respectively 8.4 and 4.3%) follow. In spite of the reduction caused by the known virus problems, tomato is still the most spread species in the region, followed by early potato and fresh legumes. The surfaces interested by protected crops showed a 335% increase during the 1981-2001 period and more than 50% of the regional extension is located in Salerno district. Lettuce is the most spread species and tomato gives the highest production. Soilless and organic crops are not so practised in Campania: the former cover 30 hectares about, the latter 523, of which 396 are in conversion. At present, the gross marketable production achieved by horticulture in Campania is as big as 15.2% of the national value and has a 33.1% incidence on the regional agriculture

A partire dal 1970, l'orticoltura praticata in pien'aria ha subito in Campania un progressivo ridimensionamento delle superfici investite, nonche' delle produzioni complessive. Le province di Caserta e Salerno forniscono attualmente il contributo piu' elevato in termini d'investimento (rispettivamente 35,9 e 34%); seguono il Napoletano (17,4%), l'Irpinia e il Sannio (rispettivamente 8,4 e 4,3%). Malgrado il ridimensionamento subito a causa dei noti problemi fitosanitari, il pomodoro resta ancora la coltura localmente piu' diffusa, seguita dalla patata primaticcia e dai legumi freschi. La superficie destinata alle colture protette ha subito un incremento del 335% nel corso del periodo 1981-2001 e nel Salernitano e' ubicata oltre la meta' del totale regionale. La lattuga e' la specie piu' diffusa, mentre il pomodoro fornisce la produzione piu' consistente. Rilevanza trascurabile assumono in Campania il fuori suolo (circa 30 ha) e il biologico (523 ha, dei quali 396 in conversione). La produzione lorda vendibile realizzata dall'orticoltura campana rappresenta attualmente il 15,2% del valore nazionale e incide per il 33,1% su quella agricola della regione
