Characteristics of Bougainvillea types widespread in the East of Sicily

إنجليزي. The bougainvillea represents one of the most important plants for flowered pot and landscaping. It is characterised by a broad morphological variability linked to the large number of species, but above all to the ease of crossing, also interspecific, and the high frequency of bud mutations. For commercial purposes, there are numerous types employed, but often they are not suitably identified and characterised. In this frame, the investigation carried out in Eastern Sicily has allowed to identify and to characterise 40 types, on the basis of simple discriminant parameters related to ornamental characteristics. The range of explored variability appeared very high, as attested by the broad genetic base that may be counted for this cultivation. Thanks to the analyses of a number of parameters [length of bracts and flowers, values of the yellow-blue ratio (b] of the chromaticity co-ordinates], a dendrogram was obtained showing the distance between the different kinds studied

La buganvillea rappresenta una delle piu' importanti colture da vaso fiorito e per la sistemazione degli spazi a verde, soprattutto nei comprensori piu' meridionali d'Italia. Essa appare caratterizzata da un'ampia variabilita' morfologica, legata all'elevato numero di specie, ma soprattutto alla facilita' di incrocio anche interspecifico e alla elevata frequenza di mutazioni gemmarie. Nella realta' produttiva numerosi sono i tipi cui si fa riferimento, spesso non adeguatamente identificati e caratterizzati. In quest'ambito, l'indagine condotta nella Sicilia Orientale ha consentito di individuare e caratterizzare 40 tipi, sulla base di semplici parametri discriminanti di maggiore interesse ai fini ornamentali. Il campo di variabilita' esplorato e' apparso elevato, ad attestazione dell'ampia base genetica su cui si puo' contare per questa coltura. Grazie all'analisi di alcuni parametri [lunghezza della brattea e del fiore, valori dell'asse giallo-blu (b] delle coordinate di cromaticita'], e' stato costruito un dendrogramma riportante le distanze fra i diversi tipi allo studio
