Vodni resursi u organskoj poljoprivredi / Water resources in the organic agriculture

In this monograph, theauthor defines the role of water resources in the organic agriculture development in general and especially in Serbia, indicating how the quantitative and qualitative properties of ground and surface waters influence become a restrictive or enchancing factor in the organic agriculture development. Taking into consideration that the use of water in agriculture is primarily directed to irrigation or drainage, the issue of irrigation will be elaborated first, and will be followed ba alaboration of drainage in organic agriculture with the aim to achieve an optimal production. The situations which could affect agricultural producers who are starting with organic agriculture without having data on quantitative and qualitative properties of water resources in their environment will be also shown within the monograph, having in mind that it could influence the cost effectiveness of the whole process and the idea of getting into organic agriculture as well. In the monograph there have been used analysed results of research and expert studies, which are related to the quality control and monitoring of the groundwater and surface water regime in the specific areas in Serbia. Based on the given results, it has been notified that there is a problem in Serbia related to the quality of groundwater and surface water, representing thus a limiting factor for the organic agriculture development. It has been notified as well that there is an explicit need for organizing and development of the organic agriculture in the areas where the quality of ground and surface water is satisfying. It is also emphasized that beside its productive and economic justification, well organized organic agriculture is an importan ecological measure for water and area protection. Taking into consideration water resources as an important aspect, in the monograph will be indicated areas that are inadequate for organic agriculture, as well as those that are recommended. The author hopes that this monograph would be useful for agricultural producers who are planning to launch the organic production, as well as for those who have already started it.
