Response of winter barley to growing conditions
2020
Candráková, Eva
In years 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 we cultivated two varieties of winter barley (Casanova and Malwinta) in a warm climate area. Three fertilization variants were used: H1 = control, H2 = 80 kg of N in the form of DASA + Microstar G-10; H3 = 80 kg of N in the form of DASA + Microstar G-10 + Rizoflower + Sunagreen. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers were applied in the autumn before sowing. We evaluated the yield and quality of grain for malt production. The grain yield in 2013/2014 was significantly higher (7.09 t.ha-1) than yield in 2014/2015 (5.63 t.ha-1). Variety Casanova reached average yield of grain 7.11 t.ha-1 which was higher by 1.32 t.ha-1 than the yield of variety Malwinta (5.79 t.ha-1). The application of Rhizosfer and Sunagrean agents significantly increased the grain yield to 6.69 t.ha-1 compared to variant H2 (6.31 t.ha-1) and H1 (6.34 t.ha-1). These agents influenced the grain quality by an increase in protein content (11.41%) compared to control (10.80%). The variety Malwinta achieved better quality parameters (protein content 10.95%, extract content 80.32%) in comparison to the variety Casanova (protein content 11.35%, extract content 78.82%). The yield and quality of winter barley grains were influenced by the conditions of the year, variety and fertilization variants.
