Extract: The major objective of this report is to present a detailed literature review of the detrimental effects of the IFA in the agricultural sector, to critically evaluate the studies noting their limitations and applications, and to compare studies where appropriate. Other objectives are 1) to provide an up to date chronological summary of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) IFA-insecticide regulatory actions, 2) to provide estimates of mean losses due to the IFA and its presence as the studies permit, and 3) to provide recommendations for basic research, and improvements that could be adopted in experimental test studies and studies based on survey data to attempt to standardize measurement procedures and survey techniques.
