1977
Shafer, C.E.
Extract: Interviews with personnel responsible for cotton procurement for 11 large domestic mills suggested that two of the major economic factors motivating the continuing switch from cotton to man made fibers during the last decade were the (1) price variability and (2) uncertain availability of desired types of cotton since 1966. the purpose of this paper is to examine this hypothesis and the implications for cotton's competitive position.
