Abstract: An educational packet on nutrition and fitness topics for the general public includes a technical manual on various aspects to nutrition and exercise; Canada's food guide handbook; 14 pamphlets on nutrition, fitness, and health; a meal-servings poster; and a "fitness wheel." This provides information on the cholesterol and caloric content of various foods in 8 food categories with a caloric expenditure equivalent (in minutes of activity) for 4 types of activities (walking, bicycling, swimming, running). The technical manual provides information and literature references in 4 key categories (general nutrition concepts; diet, fitness, and lifestyle; weight control; and nutritional aspects of athletic performance) and an annotated bibliography of background resurces on nutrition and fitness. The pamphlets range from fitness guidelines for the working woman and weight control for athletes, to the benefits and use of milk and milk-based menus and weight loss guidelines.
