Abstract: A brief report by the British Medical Association focuses attention on the gaps and deficiencies in child health services and the medical care of children in Britain. A variety of child (from infancy to adolescence) health topics are separately addressed: immunization; dental hygiene; major causes of death and serious disease; accidents; cancer; physical, psychological, and mental handicaps; health education; and health problems of children in developing vs. developed countries. Needed improvements in health and nutrition education, diagnosis, therapy, and disease prevention are discussed throughout. (wz).
