Mothers who work
1983
Bodin, Jeanne | Mitelman, Bonnie
Abstract: Strategies for coping are presented for mothers who work outside the home. Questionnaires were sent to working women and the responses were compiled into discussions of their successes, support groups, accomplishments, and self-perceptions. The text is divided into 4 major parts covering: motivation for working; first person accounts from working women; strategies for coping-today and tomorrow; and strengthening the family structure. The terms "working mother" and "professional" refer to women who generate income. The focus is on the impact of work on family life, and on the subtleties of the role of wife, partner, and mother, rather than on the rolw of the woman professional. Discretionary time, sacrifices, personal needs, and obligations are explored. (kbc).
