The Amador study on aging, nutrition, and stress
1984
Alvi, Effraim
Abstract: A study of a randomly selected elderly population in Amador County, CA, provides concise and authoritative information that, for the first time, scientifically demonstrates the possibility of attaining a human life span of 125-140 years. The bulk of the text reviews and discusses recent literature findings in a variety of health risk areas (e.g.: sugar, fat, and protein overconsumption; deficient cellular energy production; endocrine gland malfunctions; electrochemical disturbances in the spinal nerves; psychochemical reactions associated with stress; cranial nerve dysfunctions). Research proposals focus on the question of why the best nurtured, prosperous, sheltered, and resourceful people present in this country do not achieve an optimum life span. Life span and stress-longevity theories are discussed. Tablular data are presented throughout the text. (wz).
