This publication addresses the concerns about irresponsible weight loss practices in the state of Michigan. The anticipated outcome include: reduction in morbidity due to side effects of inappropriate obesity treatment, reduction in the incidence of "yo-yo" dieting, and improvement in the quality of care in obesity treatment through education of practitioners and consumers.
