Changing from ear corn to shelled corn harvesting in Illinois has created a large volume of high moisture corn in marketing channels. the practice of marketing corn directly from the field has placed much of the burden for conditioning this high moisture corn on country grain elevators. nearly every elevator operator in Illinois has had to face the decision of adding drying capacity to existing facilities. to decide wisely the needs for information on management techniques and on costs and returns associated with conditioning high moisture corn. this report will help both elevator managers and farmers select conditioning systems and improve efficiency of grain conditioning equipment.
