Automated unit for soil sample preparation and processing
1998
Skotnikov, A.
Site-specific crop management requires a significant increase in the amount of soil sample analysis. Analyzing of soil extracts is largely automated, but soil sample preparation is a less automated area. The suggested Automated Unit for Soil Sample Preparation and Processing (AUSSPP) has a flexible structure suitable for any processing of nutrient extraction for any amount of elements and will permit unpacking, preparation and processing of soil samples in three or more lines (with additional disks), each in sequential order. It will prepare the obtained extracts for analysis on required measuring devices. The AUSSPP consists of the main unit - a turning disk or disks with vessels in slots around its perimeter and a immovable disk with a plurality of dosing, mixing, filtering, testing, washing and drying stations; the unit for the soil sample preparation consisting of an unpacking mechanism, a mixer, a device for soil texture determination (concentratometer) and a scale; the dosing unit; an air mixer; a filtration unit; a unit for the washing and drying of vessels; a relay interface; a multifunctional analog digital I/O board; the unit for control; the waste collector; and a set of software. All measuring devices for extract analyzing and an accompanying computer will stay outside of AUSSPP.
