Lefebvre, R.C. | Lasater, T.M. | Carleton, R.A. | Peterson, G.
The Pawtucket Heart Health Program is a community study designed to determine whether or not population-based efforts to lower cardiovascular risk factors will be effective in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The program uses social learning theories, community organization models and psychological tenets as a multifaceted program designed for individuals, groups, and community organizations. Risk factors stressed by the program include: blood pressure, cholesterol levels, smoking, lack of exercise, and obesity. Volunteers are used to reduce these risk factors by improving lifestyle habits and reducing the number of risks associated with cardiovascular disease.(lsp)
