Diet, crime and delinquency: a critique
1986
Gray, G.E.
Associations between food habits and hypoglycemia with juvenile delinquency and crime are examined in a critical review. Specific attention is focused on 5 areas: theories concerning a link between diet and crime; the possible association between hypoglycemia and violent behavior; dietary intervention studies in juvenile delinquents; social implications of the diet-crime relationship; and the need for research studies of the effectiveness of dietary intervention in the area of diet and crime. It is concluded that currently, there is little convincing evidence that dietary factors have any role in antisocial behavior, although it is acknowledged that most research studies in this area have suffered from serious deficiencies in design and analysis.(wz)
