The National Library of Medicine (NLM) maintains and operates a number of computerized on line information systems that ease the problem of finding information on specific subjects. MEDLINE contains references to approximately a half million citations from 3,000 biomedical journals. AVLINE is a data base containing references to audiovisual instructional materials in the health sciences. TOXLINE is a collection of more than 380,000 toxicology references. CHEMLINE is an interactive chemical dictionary file. EPILEPSYLINE contains citations of articles on epilepsy from "Excerpta Medica". CANCERLIT has 75,000 citations dealing with cancer, and CANCERPROJ contains summaries of ongoing cancer research projects. Accessing information is provided, and an insert describes on line systems from other sources.
