Population and Phytosociological Patterns of Two Different Altitudes with Emphasis on Medicinal Plants in Garhwal Himalaya
2017
Bisht, A. S.
The present research study was conducted at Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, aimed the present scenario of phytosociology with respect the species dominance, species diversity and to study human impact to the herb community. The study was based on two elevational sites with marked differences in their physical and biotic features. During the study period, 60 species at lower elevation and 79 herb species were observed at higher elevation. The total importance value index was observed the highest for Cotoneaster rotundifolius and Anaphalis triplinervis at lower elevation and lowest for Viola biflora during the study period. An effort has been made in this article to gather information from different sources about the plants and establish their current status which throws light on the measures to be taken to improve their status. Their natural habitats are specific in ecological environment; hence, the plant occurs only in small pockets, and present study deals with the Uttarakhand elevation between 1, 500 and 30, 00 masl.
