Polychlorinated biphenyls in Israel: Risk assessment
1984
Weisenberg, E.
The incidence, human exposure, residues, and occurrences of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in human breast milk in Israel are reviewed, and the potentially toxic effects in humans noted in animal studies are considered relative to assessing the risk of PCBs to the health of Israelis. It is concluded, however, that a reliable risk assessment is not currently feasible due to insufficient data. While new validated animal experimental data and epidemiological data on breast-fed children are needed to assess risk and arrive at proper health decisions, continued breast feeding is recommended.
