Healthy menu choices in Midwest restaurants

A National Restaurant Association survey indicates substantial growth in the popularity of healthy menu items such as fruits, main dish salads and juices, but there still may be limited availability of healthy menu choices when eating out. Little descriptive information exists on the availability of healthy menu choices typically facing a person when dining out in American communities. How healthy is the array of choices he/she faces? Are certain kinds of dining sites or certain communities more likely to present healthy menu choices? The study reported here provides some preliminary answers to these questions.
