In schools, the ratio of technical support persons to computers is low. This article addresses related issues specific to school foodservice systems, such as loss of inventory and revenues if the computer goes down. It discusses the pros and cons of using the schools district's Information Technology (IT) help vs. hiring IT support for school foodsrvice only. It also discusses the need for foodservice staff to be trained in basic computer skills so that they can at least be able to troubleshoot and have some basic technical knowledge.
