Estimates of stability parameters in Dioscorea deltoidea Wall
1986
Bindroo, B.B. | Bhat, B.K.
Estimates of stability parameters for various traits in Dioscorea deltoidea revealed that some characters, such as, per cent diosgenin content in tubers, stem thickness and leaf breadth were fairly stable traits. Other characters, i.e. tuber length, tuber branching and petiole length were not stable and were greatly influenced by the environment. The stability of fifteen genotypes varies from character to character and six genotypes were found to be most stable for the majority of the characters. The significant genotypic regression on the environment indicated that it should not be difficult to breed D. deltoidea strains which should perform fairly well under diverse environmental conditions and to recognize the most desirable properties of a genotype to be released as a variety for wide cultivation.
