Sweet potatoes with high levels of beta-carotene have an important role in diversification and food security programs. Information on the components of variance, heritability, correlation, and path analysis between quantitative characters and tuber yields is important to support the selection program in the development of sweet potato varieties with high beta carotene content. The purpose of this study was to estimate genetic variance, heritability, correlation, and path analysis on agronomic characters to determine the selection criteria for sweet potato clones with high beta-carotene content. The research was conducted in April-August 2013, in Srengat, Blitar. The ingredients used were 26 sweet potato clones with high beta carotene content. The study was arranged in a randomized block design (RAK) with three replications. The results showed that all characters had a high broad sense heritability value except for the number of tubers per plot. A wide genetic diversity was shown by all the observed characters. Based on the value of heritability, genetic variance, correlation, and character analysis path that can be used as selection criteria for sweet potato clones with high beta-carotene content in this study was tuber weight per plot.
