Mineral content in leaves and quality of kiwi fruit at the harvest and after storage

Mineral content of kiwi leaves, picked at the beginning of August, were carried out in 29 orchards located in the Middle and Southern Italy, to know the nutritional content of the trees. In the same orchards 50 Kg of fruit were picked from each trial and stored at 0-1 degrees C, 90% R.H. for 100 days. At the harvest and after storage soluble solids content, titratable acidity and flesh firmness were measured. Results show the good mineral level in the leaves of the different orchards, and sometimes the excess of macroelements content was ascertained. It seems that the quality level is not influenced by the quantity of elements presented in the leaves, also the storeability was little affected by the different localities and fertilization of the orchards.
