Evaluation of A New Insecticide Spirotetramat 150 OD (Movento) Against Whitefly, Bemesia tabaci Gennadius in Okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L.)

Field trials were carried out during November 2013 to June 2014 at Coimbatore to find out the efficacy of spirotetramat 150 OD against whitefly, Bemesia tabaci Gennadius on okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L.). The results revealed that, after second round of application, spirotetramat 150 OD at 90 and 75 g a.i ha⁻¹ were found to be more effective and recorded lowest mean whitefly population of 1.20 and 1.40 five leaves⁻¹ with mean reduction of 95.12 and 93.75 per cent, respectively. Phytotoxicity test recorded that there was no phytotoxic effect on okra cropat the rate of 90, 180 and 360 g a.i ha⁻¹. Significantly higher fruit yield was also obtained from of spirotetramat 150 OD at 90 and 75 g a.i ha⁻¹ in both locations 10.75 and 10.00 t ha⁻¹, respectively. The same results attained in second experiment also.
