Using two methods of transformation: infection of slices of potato tubers and disks of potato leaves with a strain of Agrobacterium tumefaciens containing the binary vector pBI121, several transgenic potato calluses of the Izobilie [abundance] and Domodedovskii varieties were produced. They were grown on a medium with kanamycin concentrations from 50 to 200 micrograms/ml. In all the calluses obtained, expression at the protein level of the genes of neomycin phosphotransferase and beta-glucuronidase was detected. A comparison of the data that we obtained with the literature data showed that the strength of the promoter of the 35S RNA gene of cauliflower mosaic virus is approximately the same in callus and mature organs of the plants.
