Fogerty, A.C. | Ford, G.L. | Kozuharoo, S.
Extract: A recent claim that some samples of rapeseed oil contain 13 docosenoic acid only in the trans form (brassidic acid) and not in the cis form (erucic acid) has been shown to be not generally applicable. During argentation thin layer chromatography methyl erucate has an Rf value which is closer to that of methyl transoctadecenoate (elaidate) than that of methyl cisoctadecenoate (oleate), whereas methyl brassidate has a considerable higher Rf value than methyl elaidate and erucate.
