Synthesis of a Bromomethylketone Based on N-Maleopimarimide and its Unusual Transformation During Preparation of Sulfonium and Phosphonium Salts

A maleopimarimide was prepared via condensation of methyl maleopimarate with alanine. Its transformations under Arndt–Eistert reaction conditions were studied. The structures of the products were proved using physicochemical analytical methods.
