Effect of Time of Molybdenum Application on Soybean Yield and on Nitrogen, Oil, and Molybdenum Contents
1969
Boswell, F. C. | Anderson, O. E.
An evaluation of the effects of molybdenum (Mo) on soybeans (Glycine max) when applied at various periods indicated significant yield responses especially on the moderately acid shaly soils. Mo applied as a seed treatment, as a spray at the early stage (20-cm height), and as a spray at the pre-bloom stage were not significantly different. However, these treatments resulted in significantly greater yields than spray treatments applied 6 or 9 weeks after die early spray stage. Mo application increased the N and Mo content of the leaves and protein content of the soybeans. A highly significant negative correlation occurred between protein and oil content of the soybeans when various Mo treatments were applied.
