The study was carried out on the evaluation of drinking water quality of some selected villages in Muzaffarpur district and water samples were obtained from hand pump consisting major water supply sources in this areas. The water samples were collected during pre-monsoon and post-monsoon period, respectively. Altogether thirty different water samples were received from various sites in the study area. The physico-chemical parameters were analyzed to confirm the potability of drinking water in the study area and comparing its suitability with recommended limits of WHO and BIS. The electrical conductivity recorded for all the samples were above the WHO standards, while the bicarbonates in 85% samples were found to be above critical level. The maximum TDS (680–740 mg L⁻¹) values were recorded in Dholi village during post monsoon period. The bicarbonate anions were found in each samples of both the samples, however, maximum value was obtained in Sakara village, whereas, carbonates content was not recorded in water samples.
