Use of four potentially energy-saving electric cooking appliances in households
1984
Woodard, J.E. | Hunt, F.E.
A study assessed the frequency of use of 4 electric cooking appliances (electric skillet, toaster-oven, slow cooker, microwave oven) in a sample of 125 urban households and the possible relationship between appliance use frequency and various factors (relative importance of 5 identifed meal preparation goals; extent of desired characteristics associated with the specific appliance; related household facilities; selected human resources of the respondents; and selected household attributes). Significant factors affecting appliance use frequency included minimal physical effect required (for the microwave oven); education level of respondents, number of selected appliances owned, and convenience of storage space, (for the toaster-oven); and the level of desired characteristics present in the slow cooker. No indenpendent variable studied was related to electric skillet frequency usage. (wz)
