Nippostrongylus brasiliensis: The effect of mitochondrial inhibitors on life-cycle stages
1984
Fry, M. | Jenkins, D.C.
Nippostrongylus brasiliensis, effects of mitochondrial inhibitors on in vitro development of free-living stages (egg to 3rd-stage larvae) and parasitic adult stages (4th-stage larvae to adult), mitochondrial electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation mediated by mammalian-like respiratory chain are clearly of necessity to development and survival of free-living stages, electron transport mediated by mammalian-like respiratory pathway in adult worm would also appear to be essential to worm development and survival although importance of oxidative phosporylation in this life-cycle stage must for the present remain questionable
