Regional coordination of agronomic research from the standpoint of the crops investigator
1934
Hayes, H.K.
Regional coordination in crops research has been developed rather extensively in recent years, although there is room for greater expansion. Investigators in crops are ready for greater regional coordination, providing this can be accomplished without loss of initiative by the individual worker. The consensus of opinion favors the development of greater regional coordination through wider group contacts, the greatest primary difficulty of making the necessary contacts being the lack of travel funds available, this difficulty being greater for state than for federal workers. There are no major difficulties, from the standpoint of the individual investigator, of bringing about greater regional coordination in crops research. Crops investigators in the Corn Belt are almost unanimous in their opinion that such coordination would aid materially in maintaining and increasing our efficiency.
