Field experiments were conducted in KVK farm, Hadonahalli to examine the effect of cropping system against whitefly, B. tabaci on tomato. Cucumber, baby corn, vegetable cowpea, squash and Control (without border crop) were used as border crop for control of whitefly. Results reveals that in tomato- baby corn combination in which baby corn was border crop followed by tomato - cowpea border crop resulted in reduced whitefly population incidence in the field, because it reduced the migration of whitefly. While squash proved to be least effective, which recorded maximum number of whiteflies followed by control. Hence, the present study suggests that baby corn could be used as a barrier crop, and squash and cucumber as a trap crop in the management of whitefly on tomatoes.
