Fueling fitness at Steelcase

The health and nutrition considerations given to the employees of Steelcase, Inc.'s corporate headquarters in Michigan are presented in this article. In making a commitment to improve working conditions for its 7,500 employees, the corporation developed a wellness program featuring fitness classes and healthful meal options. Dramatic lighting, including spotlights and neon signs above food stations, is used in Steelcase's corporate serving areas to draw customers' attention. Creative menu planning is a priority for the food service staff in order to keep participation high in the corporate cafeteria. The corporation is rightfully proud of the health promotion program offered to its employees; details of the program are discussed in the article.(lsp)
