Twenty six genotypes of potato were evaluated for knowing correlation and path coefficient for yield and its contributing characters during Kharief 2008 at the Experimental Farm of Division of Olericulture, SKUAST-K, Shalimar. Studies on genotypic and phenotypic correlations revealed positive and significant correlation of tuber yield/plant with number of stems/hill, leaf area, plant height, plant spread, number of stolons/plant, stolon length, number of tubers/plant, average tuber weight, yield/ha. The average tuber weight exerted highest positive direct effect on tuber yield/plant followed by number of tubers/plant, stolon length and plant height suggesting that these traits were the strongest forces influencing tuber yield in potato.
