Analysis of Volatile-Phase Transport in Soils Using Natural Radon Gas as a Tracer
1994
Chen, C. | Thomas, D. M.
We have conducted a field study of soil gas transport processes using radon gas as a naturally occurring tracer. The experiment monitored soil gas radon activity, soil moisture, and soil temperature at depth; barometric pressure, rainfall, and wind speed were monitored at the soil surface. Linear and multiple regression analysis under natural environmental conditions are influenced by soil moisture content, barometric pressure variations, soil temperature, and soil structure. The effect of wind speed on subsurface radon activities under our field conditions has not been observed. School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology Contribution no. 3243.
