The experiment entitled, studies on effect of IBA and different rooting media on fig cuttings was conducted at Main garden, Department of Horticulture, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The objectives of the present investigation were to study the effect of IBA and rooting media on hard wood cuttings of fig and to find out the suitable rooting media and concentration of IBA for higher survival of hard wood cuttings of fig. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD) comprising three treatments of IBA concentrations i.e. IBA 500, 1000 and 1500 ppm with control and sixtreatments of rooting media, replicated three times. The experimental evidences of the present investigation point out that among different IBA concentrations; 1500 ppm IBA gave maximum shoot growth, root growth, percentage of rooted cuttings and survival percentage of rooted cuttings over rest of the treatments. IBA 1000 ppm effective with respect to different root and shoot characters. In respect of using different rooting media, Soil + FYM + Cocopeat recorded maximum shoot and root growth, percentage of rooted cutting and survival percentage of rooted cuttings.
