Differential Reaction of Kentucky Bluegrass Cultivars to the Bluegrass Billbug, Sphenophorus Parvulvs Gyllenhal1,2
1975
Kindler, S. D. | Kinbacher, E. J.
Fifteen cultivars of Kentucky bluegrass, Poa pratensis L., were evaluated in the field for resistance to the bluegrass billbug, Sphenophorus parvulus Gyllenhal; none escaped infestation or damage. The correlation between infestation counts and damage index was significant at the 5% level (r=0.585). A range in resistance to billbug infestation and damage was recorded among the cultivars. ‘Nebraska common,’ ‘Park,’ and ‘South Dakota certified’ had the lowest number of billbugs/unit area.
